| It is my sad duty to inform you all that
WDF Treasurer Della Fleetwood has passed away, she was
66 years old.
Della was a truly wonderful person whom it was impossible
not to like. Her efficiency was renowned and her energy
boundless. Della was involved with the WDF from “day
one” and for many years assisted her husband Tom
with the WDF finances. When Tom passed away in 2001
Della took over his role as WDF Treasurer, a task she
carried out in an accomplished and very professional
manner. No task was too great and no detail was too
small for Della.
In addition to her duties as WDF Treasurer Della also
found time to organise her own tournament, the Las Vegas
Open, which is one of the largest and most popular events
in the ADO calendar.
Della was also actively involved in work with charitable
organisations and at her local centre for child abuse.
In short, Della always put everyone else first and herself
last.
I first met Della more than 25 years ago, and over the
years she became a very close friend. Della was always
a realist, a wise confidant and advisor who never, ever,
let me down. Della was a very special person who will
be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing
her.
Rest in Peace Della, the World is a poorer place without
you.
