ANOTHER NINE DARTER IN THE NETHERLANDS

Nine-darter for Pierre Dieters.
During a Dutch Ranking tournament on Wednesday, August 17th 2005 in Café “The Maarschalk” in Hilversum Pierre Dieters achieved the ultimate leg.
The Amersfoort based player hit his 9-dart leg when he was 1-0 down in his knock-out tournament match against Harold van Melsen. After 7 treble 20’s and a treble 15, the 9th dart landed in the double 18. Earlier that evening Pierre had already managed to hit an 11 darter with a 81 finish (treble 15, double 18).
After his 9 darter Dieters, who is 33 years old, explained that after the 7 treble 20’s he remembered his earlier finish from 81. He decided to take the same route again and went for the treble 15. "When the 8th dart landed in the very corner of the treble 15 he knew his luck was in, and there was no way he was going to miss the double 18.
Pierre started to play darts in 1999 in Amersfoort, and plays for "the Molstars" at the highest County level in “Darts Bond Midden Nederland”.
Pierre is also a member of the Super-league team Rendez Vous (Hilversum).

YOUTH RULES WORLD DARTS
The BDO/WDF ‘investment’ in Youth Darts continues to produce wonderful dividends for darts and its future as a true sport.
Two outstanding examples have occurred in recent weeks:
13 year-old schoolgirl ASHLEY STEWART has created American darts history by becoming the youngest ever winner of the ADO National Youth Championships, and the first female to win the title.
In addition, 16 year-old Dutch boy MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has just been crowned the youngest ever Norway Open Men’s Singles Champion with victories over Albertino Essers, Ted Hankey, Robert Wagner and England’s Tony Martin, who was BDO Young Player of the Year 2000/2001.
Both will now travel to The Spa Royal Hall, Bridlington in October to compete in the 2005 Winmau World Masters.
These wonderful successes for BDO/WDF young players are also reflected in the Youth Teams heading for the WDF World Cup in Perth, Australia next month.
The mercurial JAMIE LEWIS will be representing Wales at just 13 years of age, and alongside him in the Wales Youth Team – at just 12 years of age – will be the equally mercurial KIMBERLEY LEWIS (no relation). Confirming the depth of young talent within the BDO/WDF, 15 year-old KELLIE HAMMOND and 16 year-old ROSS SMITH will be proudly flying the flag for the England Youth Team in Australia.
They are following in the footsteps of talented players like Stephen Bunting, Kirk Shepherd and Tony Martin, all of whom are former BDO Young Players of the Year now established in the senior ranks of top players.
These young darts players – together with many, many more talented boys and girls worldwide – guarantee the future success of the sport of darts, and the BDO/WDF are to be applauded for continuing their valuable investment in Youth Darts around the globe.
