WDF EUROPE CUP 2008 Finals Day |
|
The Europe Cup is over and the finals
day complete.
Mark Webster ( Wales ) retains his title
with a 4 - 2 win over Martin Adams ( Eng )in the semi
final and a 4 - 0 win over Daryl Gurney ( NI ) in the
final. Daryl had earlier claimed his final spot with
a resounding 4 - 0 win over Fabien Roosenbrand ( NL
).
The Ladies singles final was contested
between Scotlands Louise Hepburn and Englands Lisa Ashton.
Louise had earlier won through against Denmarks Janni
Larsen 4 - 3, and Lisa gained her place with a 4 - 0
win over Scotlands Susannah Young.
In the final Louise proved to strong on
the day for Lisa and took the title with a 4 - 0 win.

Ladies Pairs: Sweden 4 Wales 1
Mens Pairs: England 4 Finland 2
Mens Team: Denmark 9 Netherlands 8

WDF EUROPE CUP 2008 Day 2 |

Day 2 in Copenhagen is over and the remaining finalists
have battled their way through a long and, I am sure,
tiring day.
In the Mens Singles semi finals it will be Fabien Roosenbrand
vs Daryl Gurney and the winner will meet the winner
from Mark Webster, the current holder of the title,
or Englands Martin Adams.

some new names with the first semi final between Lisa

WDF EUROPE CUP 2008 |

The first days competition is at an end in Copenhagen
and the finalists of the Mens Team event and the Ladies
Pairs event have been decided.
In the Mens Team event it is going to be a Denmark
vs Netherlands final. Denmark winning through against
Scotland in a closely fought semi final 9 - 8, whilst
the Netherlands overcame a German side who had surprised
many people by their performances today
In the Ladies Pairs final it will be Wales vs Sweden.
a repeat of a group match from earlier today where Wales
were victors 4 - 3. Wales overcame Scotland 4 - 1 in
one semifinal, and Sweden recorded the same score against
the Russian ladies.

North yesterday.

The
Turkish Dart Season for 2007-08
ended
with “The Turkish Masters Closed” on Sunday.
The best ranked 32 men and 16 women were invited to the
tournament which is the 11th and last of 2007-2008
season. After two days of intense competition Emre Toros
and Meltem Giray
won the
Men’s
and
Women’s
titles respectively and became the Turkish Champions.
The
Turkish Rankings were also finalized. In men’s competition Emre
Toros
finished the overall rankings as number one and Arman Ugur,
Sadık Rackel,
Eser Tekin and Bahadır Alev
took the following
places.
Meltem Giray
completed the season as number one in women’s ranking and she is
followed by Duygu Karaca,
Aslı Baris
and Secil Toros.
Mete Özdemyrcy,
the
Vice president of Turkish Darts Federation,
then announced the national darts team which will compete
at Europe cup
later this month. |

This
year the ranking tournaments of Turkish Darts Federation were
promoted
by Anatolians Group (AG). AG with their commitment to sport,
they
managed to attract around 150 players for each ranking
tournament.

successfully introduced the sponsorship of Efes
Pilsen
-the biggest brewery company in Turkey,
which has done much to
accelerate the development of the sport in Turkey.
This
was underlined by the head of Turkish Darts Federation Ahmet
Recep Tekcan
in his closing speech.
Tekcan said that as the governing body
for
darts in Turkey, the federation
are
delighted
with the efforts of AG and
looked forward to a continuing the relationship next season.
He also sent his best wishes to the national darts team." |

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008 |
| |
|

Simon Whitlock produced darts of high quality
throughout the day as he cruised to his second Australian
Singles title. He defeated his old adversary Steve Duke Senior
by 6 legs to 1 in the final.
In the Women's event Julie Thomas won her second title
with a 5-2 win over Janine Cassar. She won her first title way
back in 1984.
