MARS AND YOUNG TAKE TOP HONOURS AT LAS VEGAS OPEN

In the first of two all-American 501 Finals, CAROLYN MARS easily defeated first-time finalist, SUZIE HALL, by a score of 4-0.   Losing Semi-Finalists were BRENDA ROUSH (USA) and England's MARGARET SUTTON.   Having previously won the 501 title in 2003, MARS also captured the 501 Women's Pairs event, with partner, GAIL PAYNE.

Men's honours went to DARIN YOUNG, who also owned the title in 2006.   YOUNG was also named the 2008 Most Valuable Player, having already taken top honours in both the Men's Cricket Singles & Pairs (with BRAD WETHINGTON) events, prior to outlasting another first-time LVO finalist, JERRY HILBOURN (4-2) in an exciting 501 match.   Rounding out the Top 4 were Texan DAVIS SNYDER and SCOTTY BURNETT of California.

Over 400 players from 42 States and 8 Nations participated in one or more of ten events, in this, the 30th staging of the Las Vegas Open.

GERMAN GOLD CUP 2008:

The Ladies Final produced darts of high class with both ladies hitting 2x180. However is was Irina who produced the finishing power to take the title.

The local hero Andree Welge had enough chances to take the title, but he missed the important darts. In set 3 he had 3 darts in the third leg to take the set, but he missed and Steve took full advantage of the situation. In the final set it was the same and Steve again made Andree pay for missed doubles in a high scoring contest.
