Lakeside World Professional Championships 2010 - Press Release

The 2010 Lakeside World Professional Men’s Champion will receive a cheque for £100,000, and the total prize fund for the Championships will be £325,000 – making it the richest ever in the history of the most prestigious Championships in World Darts.

Korean Open 2009

Ronald Briones, Philippines, has won the mens singles title at this years Korean Open in Seoul. He took the title by beating fellow countryman Lourence Ilagan on the final. Lourence hit fame recently with his Winmau World Masters performance.

 

The ladies title was taken by Miyoung Jang, Korea, after she defeated fellow Korean Sukhee Song.

Sunshine State Classic 2009, Australia

Dave Marshall (pictured below) of Brisbane in Queensland won the 2009 Sunshine State Classic Singles title on Sunday, defeating Arthur Jones, another Queenslander in the best of 11 leg final, 6 legs to 2.

 

In the best of 9 legs Semi-finals Marshall proved to strong for Josh Kime winning 5 legs to 0. Josh had just defeated his father Geoff Kime (World Pairs Champion) in the quarterfinals. Jones defeated ex New Zealander Stuart Leach in another tense game 5 legs to 4.

 

In the Ladies event, Australian Youth representative at the recent World Cup Rebecca Webster (pictured right) was too strong defeating Melbourne’s Carol Forwood 6 – 3 in legs.

 

In the best of 9 legs Semi-finals Webster was in great form in this match defeating Adelaide’s Julie Thomas 5 – 4. Forwood accounted for Chrissy Sheerin in another entertaining match 5 – 3.

 

This was the second event in the second Australian Grand Prix season.

TURKISH OPEN 2009

Tony O`Shea and Deta Hedman are the Turkish Open Singles Champions for 2009.

 

Tony beat Dean Winstanley 6 - 2 in the mens final and Deta defeated Karen Lawman 5 - 2 to clinch the ladies event.

 

John Walton and Andy Boulton won the Men's Pairs, with a 3 - 1 result over the Yorkshire's duo of Brian Dawson and Dean Winstanley in the final.

Deta Hedman and Karen Lawman joined forces to collect the Women's Pairs first prize, with a 3 - 1 win over Dee Bateman and Gaynor Williams in the final.

Martin Phillips and Anastasia Dobromyslova won the Mixed Pairs event, beating Dean Winstanley and Dee Bateman 3 - 2 in the final.

The Tops of Holland is the last event in this years International Darts Tour of the Lowlands rankings, and is a WDF and BDO ranked and also ranked for the Zuiderduin Masters.

1. The existing Executive Officers were all re-elected unopposed.

A new Communications Officer, Mrs. Sabine Shanahan, {Germany} was also elected unopposed.

 

2. The extended matchplay introduced into the final stages of all events in the WDF World Cup
was approved unanimously and has been included in the updated Rules & Playing Format for
the Cup.

 

3. An application for WDF Membership made by POLAND was approved unanimously.

 

4. Information on future WDF Cups that was declared in the meeting.

5. A Remit submitted by AUSTRALIA was adopted by the meeting. Increasing the women’s team in the WDF World Cup from two to four players – the WDF Executive was directed to examine the affect on the scheduling of each discipline in the Cup and to advise members on its future
