Budapest Calling – the 2024 WDF World Masters is coming to Hungary

The WDF are delighted to announce today, in conjunction with the Hungarian Darts Federation and the Hungarian Government, that the 2024 WDF World Masters will take place in Budapest between Wednesday 9th October and Sunday 13th October.

Set to be held at the BOK Gerevich Aladár Nemzeti Sportcsarnok in the Hungarian capital, the World Masters will carry a total prize fund of more than €50,000. As in 2022, the Men’s winner will take home €10,000 while the Women’s champion will pocket €5,000. A full breakdown of the prize fund (in Euros) is indicated below.

The World Masters is only open to invited players. You can find a full list of those players already qualified across all four tournaments in our previous World Masters announcement, while full qualification criteria is available on our Rules page.

For administrative purposes, the WDF is introducing a small entry fee of €10 for all players that enter the World Masters.

Gabor Balazs, President of the Hungarian Darts Federation, added: “Today’s announcement is a moment of enormous pride for the entire Hungarian Darts Federation.

“The sport of darts has made significant steps in our country over the last decade. As a federation we have had the pleasure of hosting the WDF Europe Cup Youth three times and also the WDF Europe Cup, while last year we were the only nation to have participants in all four WDF World Championships at Lakeside.

“Now, by bringing the World Masters to Hungary, we hope this will be the next step in taking the sport to new heights and we are honoured to be welcoming players from around the world to Budapest and look forward to showing everyone what Hungary has to offer.”

WDF Secretary-General Nick Rolls stated: “On behalf of the WDF and WDF Promotions Ltd, I would like to thank the Hungarian government and the Hungarian Darts Federation for making this venture possible.

“We know that sport is a strategic sector and priority for the Hungarian Government and we are committed to do all that we can to help deliver a successful tournament.

“We look forward to seeing players from across the world assemble in Budapest for the World's oldest major tournament.”

A bumper week of action includes two more chances to qualify for Lakeside

The World Masters will not be the only tournaments run in the Hungarian capital.

Entry fees for the WDF World Open are set at €40 for men and women and €20 for boys and girls and a full breakdown of the prize fund (in Euros) will be available shortly.

World Championship Qualifiers
