Deta Hedman became WDF no 1 for a record breaking 10th time after WDF rankings were finalized after Finder Masters.
During 2015 Deta played in 24 WDF ranked events in 14 countries, she won 12 titles and appeared in a further 6 finals.
Deta had won her first WDF tournament back in 1988, was runner up to Sharon Colclough in 1992 and Mandy Solomans in 1993 overall rankings ,but in 1994 reached the number 1 position in a season where she won Winmau World masters, Pacific masters and Australian grand masters, success followed in 1995,1996 and 1997 after which for personal reasons she retired from WDF darts.
12 years later in 2009 she returned to the fold with an ambition to try and win an event! She played about 10 WDF ranked events that year and finished a credible 4th.
2010 she achieved her goal of winning an event plus a few others to become WDF #1 13 years after her last successful campaign, 2011,2012,2013,2014 and now 2015 followed this making it 10 in total.
Allowing for her rest from WDF Deta has been 1st ten times out of the last 11 years she has competed.
In times where events are deciding not to pay WDF levy, Deta will enter 2016 with the aim of supporting the WDF system as much as she possibly can. Hopefully attending countries she hasn’t played in before to show support for darts in as many areas as possible.
Deta gave a quote ” I would like to thank all the organizers of events worldwide, without your efforts the players would have little incentive, personally I would urge as many ladies and girls to support events throughout the WDF system , you will make friends wherever you go, play to your best and with a smile on your face. Hopefully see you all in 2016″
Double 5 for Deta who would bet against more.
