The 2022 WDF season so far: January and February review

The opening two months of the 2022 WDF season may have looked a little different than originally planned after the postponement of the World Championships but there were still seven senior events played across four nations and several of this year’s Lakeside qualifiers got important, morale-boosting title wins under their belts. Russian Invasion of Ukraine

The world is horrified by what Russia has done, aided and abetted by Belarus. World leaders sought to avoid this invasion through diplomatic means but to no avail given Russia’s unswerving intention to invade Ukraine. The unprecedented sanctions that are being imposed on Russia and Belarus by countries, and industries all over the world appear to be the only peaceful way to disrupt and disable Russia’s current intentions and restore peace.

WDF Calendar 2022 – Six ‘GOLD’ Tournaments Confirmed

As the build-up continues towards the Lakeside World Championship in April, the WDF calendar for 2022 is starting to take shape, with 70 ranked tournaments across 25 member nations already scheduled and in the diary. Alongside the three ‘Platinum’ graded major events at the Lakeside and in the Netherlands, six ‘Gold’ events are confirmed and will take place in the Isle of Man, Scotland, Denmark, Wales, England, and the Republic of Ireland.

Following the rescheduling of the 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championships to Saturday 2nd to Sunday 10th April, the World Darts Federation can now confirm the playing field and schedule for the men’s competition, broadcast live on Eurosport and Discovery+.

Lakeside WDF World Championships April 2022 Update

The World Darts Federation, together with hosts and sponsors the Lakeside Country Club and broadcast partners Eurosport/Discovery+, are pleased to announce that the full playing schedule for the Women’s Lakeside World Championship has been confirmed and will be played between Saturday 2 and Sunday 10 April 2022. With the ladies’ field extended to 24 players for the first time, competitors from 12 different nations will compete at 'the home of world darts' for a record breaking £25,000 first prize.
